Very good option to eat in or to take to the beach. Right across the Red Coconut Camping

We visited Junkanoo while we were visiting Ft. Myers for a long weekend. We decided to wing it and were trying to find a nice, fairly inexpensive place on the beach for lunch. Much to our surprise, the options were fairly limited (that we could see from the street) until we happened upon Junkanoo. There was plenty of parking, we waited less than 5 minutes for an outside table right next to the beach and the server was very attentive. Really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, and were even able to stroll the beach after we ate. Fish tacos were great, and I even ventured to say better than the high-end Mexican restaurant we have here in Cincinnati (which I love dearly!) Would recommend to anyone looking for a quick bite and thanks to the staff for the nice lunch!

Ducked in with the Maastricht Clan, the Sis, and Jakey Jake the happy boat dawg and was I glad I did! Here's why: * Waterfront * Beachfront * Big * Bar and dining * Location, location, location * Plenty of parking * Best Pizza in Fort Myers!! Beware of drunken, white-trash, bar-broads who try and walk off with your beloved Golden Retriever (Jake), see photo of Jake's undeniable cuteness. Hurry in and visit. My street-network chatter tells me the place will soon be demolished and replaced with high-end homes. Awesome place, great pizza pie. Cabeza OUT!

You know what? Nevermind. When I walked in, the hostess offered a table outside on the deck, and then another host came over and tried to seat us elsewhere (in a mostly empty dining room - no thanks man). I asked for a table outside, the hostess sat us, no problem. Or so it seemed. Then, our waitress came over and took drink orders. I asked if there were any drink specials (it was 5PM) - no. Any food specials - no. We ordered drinks, and she asked if we were going to be ordering food. When the response was negative, she told us the tables where we were sitting we just for people ordering food, even though the hostess had seated us there without asking. The whole thing confirmed I should have followed instincts from the getgo, when the host stand was good cop bad copping our party. It's too bad, because the other food reviews made me excited to eat there, but the service made us quickly finish our drinks and move on. The overall atmosphere is quite dark and dingy compared to other places along the beach - not worth a second try.

Plus- On the beach. Not to many people. Parking available. Not so much- Food is just ok. Tables and chairs are pretty old. Place is run down. No AC. Not really family friendly. Not terrible .. But not worth coming back to.

Good pizza and decent waiting staff. Went with a large group and waitress wasn't very attentive but other waiter picked up her slack. All it takes is one spoiled Apple though. Drinks were alright but pizza was as advertised.

Still one of the best on the island. Fat oysters, peel and eat shrimp were great, beer was cold and service great. If you want good food and good service, unlike the crackhead at Times Square, come down here,

Our waitress, Terry, was very kind, efficient and helpful. As good as she was she wasn't the best part about the meal. The star of the show was the food. The food was delicious! Mom had the shrimp and crab sandwich. The shrimp/crab salad inside was plentiful and incredibly tastey. Terry recommended the blackend grouper meal which I gladly ordered. I never had grouper and she said it was a sweet, light white fish. My goodness the grouper was sweet, light and cooked to perfection! The grouper came with fresh steamed vegtables and rice. It was 90 degrees and we had been on a boat for hours so we opted to eat inside. The windows were open and the fans were on so we were quite comfortable. The prices were a little too high but after a few days on this island I'm finding EVERYTHING is high. My grouper meal: $18.99, mom's shrimp/crab sandwich (came with delicious sweet potatoe fries) was more reasonably priced at $9.99 ...or let's call a spade a spade it was $10.00 LOL. The only thing that could have improved the experience was a better choice of music. We had wild music, I think they call it SKA, playing in the speaker right near us. I love all kinds of music just am not a fan of listening to guys full-on screaming while I am eating. One other thing may have sparked the already excellent experience and that would be to show us a dessert tray. I was in the mood for some Floridian key lime pie and didn't even know if they had desserts. I highly recommend a visit to this excellent establishment if you are in the area and in the mood for a very tastey meal served with excellence.

Location location. This place is beach front, white sands the works. The food is pretty good the pina colada is excellent. The service is okay, usually they are somewhat busy so I understand. They aren't the quickest to serve you, but they are friendly and the atmosphere is cool. It is a bit hot inside, but that's why they have a patio!

Was only at Junknoo once and since I just came back from Florida I figured I'd write them up. Enjoyed the vibe at Junkanoo with the pool tables and plenty of bar space. Plus the bar/restaurant opens right out to the beach and you can watch the sunset. I've been here around happy hour time and it was decently busy. No real drink specials for happy hour but beer was reasonable. As far as food is considered, we tried the nachos with chicken and guac to start. A little bit steep for the portion/quality, especially how much guac you get for the price. Not really bad but wouldn't really go for them again. Also had a grouper sandwich grilled with potato salad. Can't complain here as the fish was fresh and nicely cooked. House made potato salad (or so it seemed) was pretty darn good. They also have a $3 per/play lobster claw machine so if you're looking for a cheap dinner and have some skill with the crane game, try it out. One of the better cheap options on Ft. Myers Beach overall. Hopefully I'll be back to the island and back to Junkanoo

Went to Junkanoo's for the first time with my father and a friend. It was a nice, easy walk from the RV Park next door. Atmosphere was immediately impressive, with clean signage and waterfalls to greet us. Wait staff was attentive and very enthusiastic. I ordered the calamari as an app, and was impressed by the portion and execution. The calamari came with sliced pepperoni and julienned, fried squash which was a nice touch. For the entree, I ordered the Junkanoo's blast steak sandwich. Fairly standard fair, but still well done. Generous portions and a nice Aoli sauce to dip the house cut sweet potato fries. Overall, a pleasant experience. 3 out of 5.

Besides the beautiful view of the ocean from your seat, this place isn't anything special. A few years ago, they had the best pizza and atmosphere. Those days are gone. This waste of space isn't anything special or different from your average over priced basic dish style restaurants.

  • Heather G.

I have been here quit a few times. The view is amazing. They have really good pizza. I had the grilled salmon and it was perfect. It just enough out of the way of the business near the pier. A must try !

Went over to eat fresh seafood and watch the sunset. Awesome view and great food. Nick was at great waiter who did his job well. We will go back and often.

Excellent food. Well presented. A tad pricey. Expect to get salad & at least bread when paying over $23 for an entree - but not here. Everything is a la carte

Burgers, seafood, key lime pie with an ocean view. White sand beach for outdoor seating

  • Lily Y.

We went there a few weeks back and 3 people out of our group of 6 got food poisoning. We were seated outside and they had a trash can near the seat so the smell and flies were unpleasant.

Went to Junkanoos with the family on Saturday. Atmosphere is ok, keep in mind it's on the beach so it's not fancy or spotless. Ordered the Calamari as an appetizer and it was great. Then we ordered a steak flatbread which was very flavorful & filling. The kids portions were a little overpriced but the portions were decent sized and the food was good. Good choice for lunch or dinner if your spending the day at the beach!

  • Rory J.

Good service! Great fish tacos! There were three tacos filled with large blackened chunks of fresh grouper. I am normally not a fan of grouper but this grouper was fresh, white, and flaky with no hint of a strong, fishy taste. The fish tacos came with sweet potato fries, which were also very good. The tropical drink of the day was also good.

This place is a spring break dive bar that's trying to be a real restaurant for the other 50 weeks of the year. Their location is great (4 stars) - right on the beach. Our dinner was mediocre (2 stars) at best. We tried mahi, burger, crab cakes and stromboli. I could only stomach about half of the crab cake appetizer - not good. Everyone else said their food was fine - no higher praise than that. I will say that my strawberry daiquiri was yummy (4 stars) - just what I needed after a hot day at the beach. So, if you want a drink right on the beach - go for it. I wouldn't return for the food.

  • Naina L.

Conveniently located, nice open atmosphere. We did take out (picnic on the beach) and the sandwiches were good- w yummy sweet potato fries and an orange slice! Then we ate in on another day and the waitress talked the kids into ordering virgin strawberry daiquiris- kids drank them before we realized they were $6 ea! Fish and chips- 2 small filets and steak fries for $14. Same waitress recommended the Mediterranean pasta over the Junkanoo ultimate salad ($12). "Mediterranean" pasta turned out to be spaghetti w canned tomatoes, some olives and some jarred/canned artichokes for $14. Don't order the Mediterranean pasta unless you too believe adding canned olives makes something Mediterranean. Kids thought the chicken tenders were a bit dry.

Best Pizza on FT, Myers Beach! Tuesday night is half price pizza night. Great staff and cold beer at the beach! The way life was meant to be!

  • George N.

A friend of mine recommended this place. It is a local place with a great view. You can eat out side and enjoy the weather as well. I had the fish taco with grouper and it was very good for being on the east coast. I say that, since I have had many fish tacos in Southern California and this would fit in the middle of the taste spectrum. I would recommend it for lunch, since the are a lot of sandwiches on the menu. The service was quick and they have a full bar.

  • Kimber L.

Every time I've been here I've been surprised they aren't busier. The view of the beach and sunset from their deck is fantastic! The French dip sandwiches, pizza, salads, & burgers are all great and I love that they have sweet potato fries:). Wait staff was great!

    (4)
  • Josh R.

Very nice place. With a great view. We went for supper so the sun was going down. The sunset view was great. Everything on the entree list was good. Might not be worth as much as it is though. Cheapest entree was $17. The ribs and fish are great.

Great place to have brunch. The view is awesome and the stuff is very friendly. We loved the clam chowder and the fish tacos. Our waiter Sean was very nice and attentive. Even the manager came to ask if everything is ok. So nice of him. Would highly recommend this place to everyone looking to have brunch on Fort Myers beach. Will be back! Thank you Junkano!

  • Kevin S.

Well, I think we should have ordered the pizza! I had the shrimp, blackened. For the high price, I received only 5 shrimp. They were good, but for $18.99 I would have expected more shrimp on the plate and fresh shrimp. Overall, a nice beach view, but my advice, come on Tuesday and get the pizza.

If you are looking for a great bar experience come to this restaurant. Wonderful location on the beach with great week views. The bar atmosphere was fun. I had ordered the jerk mahi-mahi which was tasty and fresh, a bit on the spicy side. The fried shrimp were a delicious option to choose from, lightly breaded and fried. This restaurant would be a fun option to walk from the beach up directly to the bar to have a drink.

Junkanoo, I'm guessing, is somehow related to the Fresh Catch Bistro next door which I absolutely loved (they are connected by a staircase, actually). Some of the menu items looked a bit familiar. I was thinking perhaps this was a low-brow version of was offered next door, and that maybe it would be good. Looking around, the place is kind of divey. The view of the beach is great, and we were able to catch the sunset. Pretty cool. Other tables seemed to be ordering pizzas predominantly, which was a bit alarming. Perhaps it's a beer and pizza type of place, but I was looking for some seafood (I'm from Buffalo. When I'm there, I eat seafood). My wife and I both ordered the stuffed grouper and it was good. The calamari was not on par with the calamari next door, though, used Chorizo sausage as they do. Unfortunately, it came out kind of dried out and the sausage was jerky-like. Other food at the table was typical pub-fare. If you can drop a fryer basket, you can cook the food. We won a lobster from the lobster skill-crane on the way out. They gave us the lobster on ice in a box. It was actually quite an annoying burden. If you're with kids or a laid back party that wants a few beers and pizza, this place will do the trick. Not the place for date night.

Mediterranean pasta was great! A bit pricey and for $8 to add chicken I was a bit skeptical but it was good. Nacos could have been a bit better but I'd still get them next time I come back! Sat outside and the service was impeccable. Highly suggest if in the area

Had good dining experience @ lunch. Had just opened & were promptly seated outdoors near the beach. Beautiful!! Our wait person, Terry, was outstanding. She took great care of us as she said she would. Fried shrimp platter was great with home fries & onion rings-plentiful. Wife had grouper rueben sandwich & other member of group had the grouper on a bun. All in all very delightful meal.

    (4)
  • Elaine V.

Although the food is good, it's over priced. The drinks are ok not the best I've had or even close. $26.99 for grouper is not unheard of but you'll get a better dining experience than a cramped patio. I won't say I won't be back bit most tourist towns have discounts for locals. So I'll spend my $$ elsewhere.

Just left from dinner, and have to say Adam our waiter was one of the best servers I have ever had. I have been a server for many years and he made our experience extra amazing. Being on vacation is great enough but Adam made it even more pleasurable. My husband and I have tried many bars/restaurants on fort Myers beach and on Bonita springs and agree Junkanoo was great. The food was great, the drinks (the jumbie) was great but really we owe are great experience to Adam! Worth a try!!!! And ask for Adam!

The hot wings were delicious! The pizza was the BEST pizza we have had in a long, long time. The sauce was great and the crust was thin and crispy throughout the meal. We had 5 topping on our Mama Mia pizza and it never got soggy.

We went here after hopping off a trolley that was stuck in traffic on the way to Times Square. The wait at their sister restaurant was over an hour so they suggested Junkanoo. We were told the wait would be 20 minutes but it was only about 5 minutes. Service was a little slow, but friendly. I had the raw oysters and fish cakes and both were good.

We have eaten here both times we've gone to Sanibel. Beautiful view of the gulf from the pleasant deck area. Servers have been pleasant and attentive, and the food was quite good. Grouper sandwich was delicious, and the peel and eat shrimp were great. We will return!

    (4)
  • Rich N.

You can't beat Junkanoo for a beachfront bar. We sat out back overlooking the Gulf and enjoyed wings and beers. It was a Tuesday afternoon and there're was a polka band playing. The place was packed and a ton of fun. We'd definitely go back again to enjoy the mood, the food, and the atmosphere. Another time we got two pizzas from Junkanoo to go. One was pepperoni and the other was half bacon and half anchovies. What a disappointment. Maybe we needed to eat it there, but it was somewhat soggy and unremarkable. Enjoy Junkanoo for what it is, which is a great beach bar and restaraunt.

We have been there 2 times this beautiful week in May of 2014 and both times had a great dinner, once we had pizza and it was great. Nice taste and hot. Drinks were also very good and service was fast and friendly. You might want to stay away from the chicken....not grilled. I would recommend this to my friends and family.

  • Santana N.

Food was ok. You can park your car in their lot for $10 for the entire day and walk out to the beach. They have umbrellas and chairs you can rent right outside of this restaurant. Convenient for food, drinks and restroom throughout the day.

    (4)
  • Janie B.

Junkanoo is our go to place when on Ft Myers Beach. Location on the beach gives you a wonderful view, especially at sunset. Outdoor seating available with umbrellas. A beach bar with bar food, but a cut above average. Servers are friendly & helpful, especially John & Kim. I've had Fire Cracker Shrimp with Sriracha Aioli many times & the shrimp is always cooked spot on. Fish tacos were very good with the fish blackened. Tried their pizza last night & will definitely order again. Leave room for dessert, even if you have to ask for a box halfway through entrée, their key lime pie & chocolate cake are absolutely worth another walk on the beach to burn calories. Oh, & their Mojito goes well with everything!

  • Sam M.

Very friendly waiter, though pre-bussing and keeping up w drinks seemed to be a challenge. Eventually our server just brought us drinks in larger glasses, which was right on. Umbrellas on the open patio do not tilt. Prepare to cook in the sun. Grouper was off the charts, loaded fries (app) were tasty, and everything was just the right temperature. Good value for the money for an upscale sit-down eatery on the beach. Clean and accommodating, though they allowed dogs at the tables, which flies in the face of the health dept rules. Attracted longtime locals as well as people like us with young kids, something for everyone. Lots of seating in and out, incl a glassed in patio. Go!

had a very good Greek salad and a large pizza. Salad was very fresh and tasty. pizza was expensive and average. decent flavor but crust was limp -not fully cooked maybe.

The view is nice. But that's about it. The service was "Meh" and the food quality was about the same. I'd consider coming back sometime, but probably won't.

  • Tobin h.

Just not a good place. The food was horrible and the barkeeps, one male and one female, were as ugly, old, and overweight as I am. That part is Ok but you can't be that unattractive and follow up with that fact by being down right rude and lazy. Believe me, I am in the business and understand the stress of tourists but ya'll can't be that deuche-e and expect folks to come back. Won't see my bright white non-east coast/Jersey butt be back to this bastion of horribleness!

Best food on the Beach! Grouper is outstanding and the beach views are outstanding? Have dined here at least 20 times and every meal was excellent.

I like it here because you can walk up right from the beach. The service last time I was there was slow, but usually it's good. I love love love their pizza. I also really like their salad , but recommend asking for the dressing on the side because it can be a lot. Grouper bites are very good.

I was on vacation with my boyfriend and this place looked pretty good considering it was right on the beach. Our server was really friendly and personal (we are from Michigan and so was our server). I'm vegetarian and I didn't feel like much of a selection for me but that's alright I didn't know. We ordered a basket of fries, a mai tai (yummy), and both ordered quesadilla. The fries were meh but my quesadilla was really good considering it was just a cheese one. Our food came out very fast even though it was close to dinner time. I suggest sitting outside if you can, an awesome view of the beach and sunset. I'd definitely come back if I lived there.

Whoever gave this place a bad review is out of their mind. In all of my trips to the junkanoo i've gotten delicious food serbed by hilarious and attentive waitstaff. Highlights are melon madness drinks, grouper bites, and pizza tuesdays. Be sure to check it out for a great meal on the beach.

We had the best time ever. Our server Shawn was so helpful. he is very knowledgeable with bar drinks and the menu.. his suggestions for the grouper bites were spot on, the pizza was fabulous also... He was right when he said it was the best. I am from Detroit and will return. Shawn is an asset to your establishment, well done.

Bored one Saturday night and my wife says let's go out! I tell her it's already 10pm, only barswil be open. She says let's drive towards Ft. Myers Beach. I get up and get dressed and lug myself to our car. We start driving and see that most businesses are closed. Then we spot Junkanoo. We always drove by it in the past but never went inside. We decided to take a chance. Somewhat empty. An old, drunk lady shooting pool, talking to herself. A very loving couple in a secluded table at the far side. Three young ladies having a drink deciding what to do the rest of the night. Typical bar crowd. Then we get a couple of drinks, relax and take in the scenery. It was a beautiful night and there was a breeze keeping us cool. All of a sudden I got hungry! Surprise! The only thing they served at that time of the night was pizza. So, we got pizza. The bartender and the servers were quick and friendly. The pizza came out fast, hot and looking very good. Thin crust, a lean amount of cheese and nice NY look to it. Let me tell you something, this is the best thin crust, NY style pizza we have had down in SW Florida! This is what you should come here for. Evrything else was typical but the pizza is just right!

Location location location! Where I'd rate the decor a 3, the food a 4, and the view a 7...I overall gave this place a perfect rating. My husband and I recently re-located to Ft. Myers Beach for a limited time, and we were looking for a great place to eat lunch with a view. We picked this local spot not too far from where we are staying. Not only are the prices reasonable, but the food was great! We both had the mussels, and for "appetizer" portions they were HUGE! Bigger than full meal servings of mussels we've had at other restaurants. My husband got the Garlic Butter Mussels with extra garlic and enjoyed them. I had the Portuguese Mussels (I think that was the name of them) and they were AMAZING! A must order when you go. One warning is this: At certain times Ft. Myers Beach has more fly traffic...and they love the mussels too...it didn't stop us from enjoying our meal though so don't hesitate to order the mussels if you're a mussel fan! We did see other people eating and everyone was ordering different food which is great to see it's not just one or two favorite dishes here. Servings are really plentiful, so if you're a light eater, share a meal with someone and save yourself on the bill b/c you will get full. I saw a wrap and definitely would not be able to eat the whole thing myself. We ended up going back later that day for a couple of drinks and to enjoy the view...the bar overlooks the ocean as well as the outside seating. You can see everyone enjoying their days on Ft. Myers Beach...just a real great spot. While we were there Mike the bartender gave us some other great spots to check out on the beach as well. Really friendly staff there. Afterwards, we walked out the back door and took a stroll down the beach, so bring your suits if you're looking for a little something to do after you eat! Oh, and we heard that on Sundays they have a good breakfast there...and $1 Bloody Mary's! So we'll def be heading back again soon.

This place is a wanna-be Lani Kai. Tables Are crammed in together. Not sure if this is a pizza parlor or a fine dining establishment. Service was just ok. Food was just ok. If you are a kid on vacation or a cougar looking to meet old men then you might like this place. Otherwise go to carribean pearl cause that place rocks.

Place was recommended by a friend of a friend. Bad call. Breading on grouper sandwiches was grease soaked and falling off the fish. A grouper Ruben was delivered w/o any "Ruben" to it. The cole slaw was dishwater dull and the service was pretty poor. Take your business elsewhere.

I'm lucky enough to have a sister that lives on Ft. Myers Beach and this is our go-to place always!! For the locals, it's a solid bar with a great staff, lots of great drink choices and super good food! It's a meeting place, a fun place, a beach place. Everything it should be! There is access to the beach, just walk through, Hell, take your drink with ya! There is a fancy restaurant upstairs, if you're into that sort of thing...:) They have music and pool and one of those claw machines that you can pull live lobsters out of !! I personally have won 2.. ok, my brother caught one, and my ex boyfriend caught the other, but I reaped the rewards!! They have great food! The seared Ahi Tuna app is so yummy, even being the biggest burger chick I know, I could eat this every day! If you get to the beach, you have to go here. You just have to! /Happy

This is a great place with lots of room for friends and family. It's right on the beach so our 2 year old was completely content looking out at the water while we ate. The service was prompt and courtious. The Volcano Rolls were amazing along with the Garlic Knots. The pizza was a little too greasy for me; but hey, it's pizza! The Greek Salad was excellent. We will definitely be coming back next time we're in Ft. Myers!

In a word, overrated. The location is great and the views are spectacular, but that doesn't compensate for the schizophrenic decor (like someone dumped a sports bar and pizza joint in the middle of my grandmother's house) and the subpar food. The Fire Cracker Shrimp were, by far, the highlight -- followed closely by a Shrimp and Crab Wrap, which hit the spot. Three of us got variations on the fish sandwich: one with the Fish of the Day, a Grouper Sandwich, and a Grouper Reuben. The Grouper was waaaay more fishy than other spots where we've had grouper -- and so was a little hard to enjoy, despite very fresh tomatoes and good ciabatta bread. The regular Fish Sandwich fared better in our tasting, but we'll never know what "mystery fish" we ate. When we asked our server Charles what the fish of the day was, he said: "I dunno, I wasn't here when the truck came in." His response to our suggestion that he go find out: "I don't go into the kitchen unless I have to." Wow. Really? The coup de grace: after delivering the check, Charles tried to backpedal off his earlier rudeness, taking the time to awkwardly linger at our table and explain that all of the seafood comes in fresh every day. That is just great to hear, Charles -- but how could I know that? I wasn't here when the truck rolled in. And, you know what else? I don't go into my wallet for a tip if I don't have to. :)

Very well-mixed drinks, nice waitresses, great view. I'm from New York and I'm used to awesome wings, but the garlic Parmesan wings with a side of their hot, was pretty damn good. But for hot, wasn't spicy enough. Added some of the Cholula's at the table and it was divine. I love having spicy garlic breath and making friends and family wither when I speak with them. Everyone else raved about their food: Blackened grouper sandwich, chipotle chicken nachos, and raw oysters on the half shell. They loved how fresh and well-seasoned their dishes were.

A trip to the beach in front of Junanoo's is a yearly tradition for our family. We rent chairs, tables and an umbrella out front (and learned this year you can reserve in advance so they are ready and waiting for you when you get there-a good idea if you can't be there by 10:30 am). We also rent jet ski's (you can also go parasailing but we have not done that yet). We get our cocktails from the junkanoo bar as well as lunch and bring them back to our beach chairs. The food is o.k, not wonderful but perfectly fine for beach fair...I got the cobb salad and my only complaint is that it needed to be cut (all of it, the meat, the greens, the avocado etc...) and they did not give me a plastic knife. I ordered a coconut mojito and the bartender did a FABulous job and used FRESH mint (I have a really problem with nasty mint in my mojitos).

I generally love beach restaurants and Junkanoo's is no difference. OK, they have the view on Ft. Myers Beach going for them, However, the food was great on both occasions for our party. Not fancy, but good burgers, wings, and salads. Our group hit the appetizers heavy, all were good. Lobster mac n'cheese was especially popular. Beer was cold and where else are you going to find a Sports Bar on the beach. (Especially when University of Michigan flags are flying on the beach during the NCAA basketball tournament. )

Went for a family dinner tonight with my parents who live out of town. My husband and I have been here many times and always enjoyable. I looked at the website to see if they had fish and chips for my father and salmon for my mother. All was good, we get there and 3/4 of the place is closed, no deck to sit on, a small sign saying they are only serving pizza, salad and sandwich's! NOTHING ON THEIR WEBSITE OR WEBSITE MENU! Plastic silverware and plates. My Mom ordered a glass of wine, $7.95....it came in a VERY small 2 sipper plastic cup. I ordered a pizza with a "small house salad" on line it says $2.99, that is what I am always charged. My husband ordered the same, we were charged $6.95 per salad! Then, my father paid with American Express gift cards that he received with his American Express points, they would not accept it! It was issued from American Express, it was not from Joe Blow Visa Debit Card. We were told that they would not take them do to American Express not paying them. Really American Express not paying them? I do like this place, but what a ridiculous night there.

Good place, they really know how to blacken a fish , great spices ,all the food was very good, baby back ribs, stuffed mushrooms very yummy and so was the clam chowder, which had plenty of clams, my kids had a great time trying to pull out lobsters with the crane game.

We (four adults) ate there late in the evening July 23, 2013. Nice location. Great view. Hostess was nice, service was not. They were more interested counting the nights tips, than servicing the last few customers of the evening. Pizza was good, crab cakes were also good, drinks were not strong enought.

Firstly, we had been going here for the last 10 years and never missed it on a trip by far was the best place on FMB, but our last visit was about to be our last- it was sad in 2010 how down hill it had gotten- BUT on a whim decided to try ONE more time and get a pizza- WOW! Best Pizza on the island hands down, gourmet, fresh, service was awsome! AND best of all they have revamped and cleaned it up to be even better than our first visit here - Clean, bright, spacious, always a great view! Expanded indoor and outdoor seating, just fabulous! Junkanoo is the casual beachcomber joint with a pool table, Lobster claw game (yes you actually catch live lobsters in a game and they will cook it for you!), full bar, and even "champagne" by the glass! Full service restaurant and a stone hearth pizza parlor! Plus it's located mid island, so the traffic is not so bad as near Time Square, but still an easy walk up the beach to everything! Adults, families, and teens will love this place! Sooo glad you're back Junkanoo! Also, loved the bluesy and classic rock jams! Keep it up!

You should ONLY order drinks here! The location is wonderful but food is JUNK just like sign says. I had the stuffed shrimp and they were not fresh. Also the sauce was like a dirty brown gravy. She said it was homeade but homeade doesn't mean from a packet. The warm coleslaw was old and tart and when we tried to send it back twice, they just kept telling us that it was there special homade batch! I should have known better when the place is dead on a Sat. night.

Black and blue flatbread - downright amazing! Frozen drinks were icy and chunky, that's why this review is three stars. Grouper was good as well. Nice to sit on the beach in the sun! Older crowd, but who cares.

The good: The location is great! Right on the beach. The okay: the pizza was nothing special, but I didn't hate it. The bad: the service- it was way understaffed. The waiter was fine, but didn't have time to even get the check when we asked for it. The worst thing was that it was OMG noisy. Couldn't hear myself think, much less hear conversation at my table. I had a headache when I left.

The appetizers were the best, the grouper bites & firecracker shrimp were spot on and delish. We should have stopped there. The scallop & bacon flatbread was less than meh. It seemed overdone & lacked much flavor other than overcooked spinach :(

Really great place. The wait staff was mediocre, but the food was really good. It seems odd for me to say this as a mid-westerner but the ribs were so AMAZING that they may be the best ones I have ever had... Literally. Also, the location makes it a great place to pop into after walking down the beach, and the deck is the perfect place to watch the sunset.

Me and the girl picked this place the other night for a late dinner. The location as others have pointed out is great. We chose to sit outside and the view is great. The only thing that was slightly odd was how dark it was. I understand that sitting outside at night that its going to be a little dark, but it was so dark that we couldn't actually see everything we were eating. It would have been nice to turn out a light or two but that is just me. I ordered the Black & Blue flat-bread which turned out to be a great choice. It had good flavors and a great crust. The lady got the Macadamia Coconut Grouper . She said that it would have been a really great dish but she felt there was too much onion in the salsa on top...she said it may have been more personal taste but it overpowered the entire meal. Overall we were pleased with the choice and the atmosphere. I would recommend it if your on the island.

Oy, go elsewhere. Perhaps their pizza is good (and we should have tried it according to other reviews), but we had the beef nachos (even though we asked for the basic nachos, nice bait and switch waitress) and they were microwaved chips with some questionable meat on top. Stellas were $5 a piece, WAY overpriced. Wasted $30 here, our fault, never again

Left my wallet on the table. DL, CCards all gone. MY FAULT. Not happy with their effort to help me find it. Produce the busboy. Rip open the garbage bag where bus boy would have thrown garbage. Or a quick check of the tops of the garbage recepticles would have been nice. Cash lost? Just a hundy. DL CCards all the little things in there.eeeeeerrrrr. Would sure have liked to talk to the busboy, they didn't offer me a minute to with him. Food OK. Sunset awesome. Don't be a dummy, sit outside.

We love this spot and have been going every spring for 10 years. It's a great place to grab a bite to eat, a drink and watch the beautiful sunset on Fort Myers Beach. It's not fancy, the bathrooms are kind of dumpy, but it's the perfect place to enjoy the sunset and a dip in the water. There is a volleyball net and chair/umbrella rentals on the beach. For the most part, the staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is casual, and you can walk around in your bathing suit or a suit! We especially liked the pizza (NY style) and the sandwiches. Our only disappointment was that they no longer serve conch fritters. The bartenders and waitstaff are very friendly and attentive. If you are looking for something "fancy", do NOT go to this place. If you are looking for good food and drink, and the beach, definitely check Junkanoo out. If you are older, hard of hearing, or hate sand and lots of people, don't visit this place. It can get quite loud and rowdy at times. It is definitely one of the best places to see the sunset on Fort Myers Beach and have a drink/dinner. Can't wait to go back!

Great beach view and atmosphere. I've experienced quality service and pretty good food. The BLT contains the most bacon I've ever seen. Not just crap bacon but thick smoked bacon. And I can honestly say that the Buffalo Chicken Tenders were the best I've ever had. Good for kids and groups, very very casual but what a view.

OK place... food is decent, but standard fare for the island. The patio is small but the bar is nice - try the Junkanoo Jumbee (you can get it w/o the expensive souvenir glass) if you go.

Two great bartenders and an awesome deal on pizza on Tuesday nights. The pizza was great! The Hawaiian we got was a little soggy in the center from all the pineapple, but it was still really good. The pepperoni pizza another table got looked fantastic. The rest of the menu looked good too. We saw a kid win the Lobster Claw machine on his first attempt....

On the beach dining is a rarity in Naples and one has to drive Ft Myers to find it. On weekend road trip we found Junkanoos. With a Caribbean beach eatery feel we managed to get beach side seating. Interior and exterior are nothing that will wow you, you'll be too busy people watching and looking for Dolphins to appear in the Gulf. Food is a combination of burgers, black grouper, and other seaside staples that you expect. A good sized drink menu with numerous wine selections is also available. We ordered blackened fish tacos and a chicken wrap. Generous portions greeted us that looked freshly made. The sweet potato fries were hand cut and nicely portioned. The fish was nice and crisp and had a nice salsa and sour cream side available. Only complaint was the flies that pestered us during our meal. Would come again.

Not bad. They have a live lobster claw machine at the entry and if you catch one for $3/attempt, it's only $3 to have it cooked. Margaritas were expensive, $9 I think for a tiny cup but you are right off a nice beach. After we ate, we borrowed their parking lot and spent the afternoon at that nice beach :) Grouper sandwich was phenomenal and crispy. Typical bun and condiments (pickles, onions, tomatoes, ketchup and mustard, nothing special). I think it was $12.99? Server was nice enough to accommodate my unique request for an ice pack but I had to ask a couple times. Came to $100 after tip for family of four that had 4 alcoholic drinks and no appetizers. Overall, basic laminated menu, food was fine but nothing unique, average beach front decor indoor and out. Sand was two feet from edge of my table. One more thing, the 6 oysters from Luisiana were the best I've ever had!! I think they came out to like $1.60/each?

Blackened Grouper was amazing, 2 large slices for a kids pizza, & quality chicken in the chicken kids meal. Pina Colada & Mai Tai's yummy. Great place to watch the sunset & listen to music. Happy hour too, lots of specials.
